The masks will help protect council staff working in key service areas, such as bin collections, keeping local streets clean, and delivering emergency shopping to self-isolating residents.
Cannock Chase Council originally received 10,000 free fluid resistant surgical face masks and 5,000 FFP2 standard face masks from the Super Smart Service Limited. As part of this offer, the company asked that 1,000 masks went to Lichfield District Council and 2,000 masks went to Walsall Council.
Councillor Doug Pullen, Leader of Lichfield District Council, said:
“This is such a generous donation and very much appreciated in these challenging times. The masks will enable us to meet any personal protection equipment requirements placed on district activities, such as waste and recycling collections and enable us to continue to deliver these much needed services.”
