Star of Strictly Come Dancing Robin Windsor brings the curtain down on his Strictly Come Dancing career with his All Fun Farewell Tour as he sets sail on another venture and brings the tour to Lichfield on Monday 29 October 2018. Our Features Writer, Jono Oates, had a chat with him recently about Lichfield, the farewell tour and his plans for the future.
Robin is looking forward to bringing his Farewell Tour to Lichfield which he has not been to before and so will be his first time at the Lichfield Garrick Theatre.
JO: After a hectic schedule over the last few years, what are you planning to do in the future?
RW: As I approach 40 I wanted a big change in my life and I always wanted to live by the sea and in February 2019 I’m moving out to St Lucia in the Caribbean to start a new career out there.
JO: Is there anything else you would like to do?
RW: I’s always wanted to go to South America, I’m fascinated by that area, and now I won’t be living that far away I’m looking forward to visiting. I’d love to go to Havana in Cuba to see the salsa dancing, love to go to Argentina to see the Tango, to see the culture and where the dances started.
JO: In terms of the Lichfield show, what can the Lichfield audience expect?
RW: Well, of course, with me being me, it’s going to be camp fun and sparkly! It will be story of my life, growing up and also my time on Strictly – and, of course, because I’m not on the show anymore, I can tell the truth! There are lots of things about me that people don’t know, I want to tell my whole story, there will also be some dancers from my former show Burn The Floor, who are exceptional, so I’m going to have to up my game, because they are phenomenal.
JO: Wil there be a chance for the audience to ask questions?
RW: Possibly, it will depend how the show goes, but one lucky member of the audience will have the chance to find out something very secretive about me at the VIP welcome session before the show! They’ll up end telling the whole audience, but they’ll be the very first person to hear the secret backstage.
JO: You’ve got a mission to get people up and dancing, does that include people with disabilities?
RW: Everybody, whereever you’re from, what you’ve done, if you have a disability, you should be able to dance, wheelchair dancing is becoming very popular. If you’ve got a stressful job it just makes you feel good, doesn’t matter whether you do that standing up or sitting down, being able to move to music is just such a wonderful thing. Everyone can dance, it’s just having the belief in yourself.
JO: Thanks very much for your time, we’re looking forward to the show on Monday.
RW: Welcome, looking forward to meeting the Lichfield audience for the first time.
